The tool does NOT require Vertical mapper or Discover and is designed for those without these extentions.
Requires MapInfo 11.5+ and .NET Framework 4
The code is open souce and is all hosted at GitHub:
The profile tool is desinged for those who wish to interrogate elevation data in MapInfo but don’t have one of the extensions that allow them to do so.
To install the tool unzip all the files to a folder on your hard drive and double click the “ProfileTool.MBX” file. This will auto-install the tool, there is no need to add it through Tool Manager.
Load grids through the “File” menu option > “Open”. And set the type of file to “Grid”. It is especially important to do this way if using the tool on Vertical Mapper grids (do not open them from the tab file).
Pressing “Refresh Grids” will display all grids open in the front mapper window. Check the boxes next to the ones you require data from and press the “Draw Profile” button to draw a polyline on the mapper.
Once the polyline is drawn the profile graph will regenerate showing the detailed elevations of all grids checked in the “Grids” list. The number of samples taken along the line can be adjusted in the “Options” tab.
Options are available to export the data to a MapInfo tab, CSV, MapInfo Graph or an image file.
