This applications lets you change the coordsys of tables either using a replace method via MIF/MID or using a transform via Save As.
This is a tool that lets you change the coordsys of one or multiple tables.
It supports two method of changing the coordsys:
- Export to MIF/MID and swap the coordsys line
- Save as using a new coordsys
There is a major difference between the two methods which is important to be aware of.
The first method basically changes the coordsys without transforming the objects in the table. This means that even though you apply a new coordinate system to the table, the coordinates of the objects do not change. This is useful if you for some reason have applied a wrong coordsys to a dataset but the coordinates are correct. This will in most cases also mean that the objects in your dataset will be moved, sometimes slightly othertimes radically. The difference depends on the change between the coordinate systems. If you are changing from a Non Earth coordinate system to a Earth related projected coordinate system, the move will oftten be quite radical.
The second method uses MapInfo Pro to perform a coordinate transformation on the dataset by changing the coordinatesystem from one to another. Often this coordsys transformation will not move the data as you just apply a different coordinate system to the database but the data "should" still stay in the same position.
